Decidophobia: This is the fear of making decisions.
Well, I was gonna go with this phobia, but then I couldn’t decide…
Haha, no, really though: I so have this phobia. The next time you need a laugh, just watch me try to buy gum at a convenience store. You’d think I was trying to decide whether or not to go to war.
“Bubblegum, or Spearmint? I know I like Spearmint the best, so I probably shouldn’t go with Bubblegum, but then again-I always have Spearmint! Maybe I should change it up a little. Okay, so Spearmint. But which brand? This brand has ten sticks-but this one has fifteen! Ooo, but I think I like the brand with only the ten sticks better. But the other one is such a better deal! But then again, how much is it…?”
This goes on for about another five minutes until somebody yells, “Lizzie! Make a decision!”, and even then it’s up to Rock, Paper, Scissors to decide.
You think I’m joking? No. That’s truly how I am. I think.
I’m a “Ready, Aim-Aim-Aim-Aim-Aim-Aim-Aim-Aim, Fire” kind of guy. I probably have this phobia.
Oh, good, I’m glad I’m not the only one! I love how you described it too! I’m such an “aim-aim-aim-aim-aim” kind of person as well.
I probably suffer from this at times… sometimes I need to “just act”.
Good to see you again, Dustin! And I hear ya there. “Just act” is not in my vocabulary.
LOL yes that’s my Lizzie! But hey there are worse things. Love you!
*Shh.* Mom, you are not supposed to agree with that!
Just kidding. Love you too!
I so have this too! I’m a comparison shopper. Compare, weigh the variables, compare again, use logic and reason, compare prices, compare price- per each, compare colors, compare quality, compare, compare, compare…..
30 minutes later, go to the next item on the list and, guess what…….
It’s not a fear of making a decision, it’s the fear of making the WRONG decision, lol.
Ooo, I think you have something there, Len! I think I also have the fear of making the wrong decision. Because then you have to live with the consequences of your decision. And who wants that? But then you risk never making a decision.
As for comparison shopping, that’s me all the way! You should have seen how long it took me to decide on buying a Kindle rather than a Nook, lol.
